Help Save Caliente’s Eye
Donation protected
Caliente is a cherished member of the Horses of Hope family and a vital part of our therapeutic equine team. Recently, after a day in the field, Caliente came in with his right eye swollen shut. Our vet discovered a small ulcer, likely caused by an accidental poke while scratching his head. Despite our best efforts with frequent medication, his condition worsened, and we had to rush him to LSU for intensive treatment. The team there has tried aggressive therapies, and now we’re turning to cryotherapy in hopes of saving his eye. If this doesn’t work, a corneal transplant may be our only option.
This has been an emotional time for everyone who loves Caliente, especially his therapy clients who rely on his gentle presence. We visit him every day in the hospital, and it’s clear he misses his family and the work he does. The costs for his hospitalization, ongoing treatments, medications, and potential surgery are mounting quickly. Without financial help, we may be forced to make a heartbreaking decision about saving his eye. Your support will help us give Caliente the best chance to recover and return to the work that means so much to so many.
