Caleb is a 1.5-year-old blue heeler whose life took a heartbreaking turn last week. Someone found him with a broken leg and brought him to a California shelter last Wednesday. Despite his injury, the shelter scheduled him for euthanasia on 2/17/26 at 4:00 p.m.—not even giving him 10 days to find a new home. It was devastating to learn that no one else stepped up to save his life, and transporting him across the country wasn’t ideal, but I knew I had to help. I agreed to adopt Caleb, pay for his private transport all the way to Arkansas, and make sure he gets the surgery he needs to heal and live a happy, active life. Caleb is a beautiful, healthy, and happy dog—except for his injury. He has so much love and energy to give. It broke my heart to think that one accident could end his life, especially when he has so much potential and spirit. Caleb is being transported privately to minimize any discomfort on the road with his broken leg. The vet in Arkansas has agreed to move him ahead in their schedule due to the severity of his break, and best case scenario is surgery this Friday, just two days after he arrives. However, due to the short timing, we may not have raised enough funds to have his surgery by Friday, and it may have to be pushed to the following Friday. The funds raised here will go directly to Caleb’s vet bill for his leg surgery. If there is anything left over, it will help cover the remaining transport fee to bring him safely to his new home. Our local vet’s office is small, with limited staff to answer phone donations and no way to accept online payments.
