Caine is my brother’s 4-year-old American Bulldog/Pit Bull mix, and he’s truly the gentle giant of our family. My brother and Caine are inseparable—Caine is his reason for getting up every day, his best friend, and his heart. Recently, Caine became very ill and had to be rushed to the Animal ER. He started vomiting and hasn’t had a bowel movement since Tuesday, which has us all worried he may have eaten something and now has a blockage. The first ER visit only provided fluids under the skin because my brother couldn’t afford the full range of tests. They warned us that if Caine didn’t absorb the fluids, he’d need urgent care. Unfortunately, the fluids only shifted, and now Caine’s right leg and thigh are swollen. We brought him to another ER, where they said he needs bloodwork, an ultrasound, and possibly surgery for a suspected blockage. Caine is just laying here, when usually he’d be plowing me over with loves. My brother is out of work right now due to his seasonal landscaping job, and the costs for emergency care are overwhelming. We found an animal hospital willing to work with a payment plan, but they require a large deposit up front. Caine is not just a pet—he’s family, and he lifts my brother up every single day. Seeing my brother in tears, worried he won’t be able to save his best friend, has been heartbreaking for all of us. Any funds raised will go directly to Caine’s medical testing, ER visits, medication, and surgery if needed. They’ll also help with his follow-up care and making sure he stays healthy. We love Caine dearly, and after losing my own girl Khloe unexpectedly last January, we know how precious every moment is. Your support will help save our gentle giant and keep our family whole.
