Please help me save Bugs. He needs medical attention that I am unable to afford & it's breaking my heart..

I adopted Bugs 12/2023 to help me process the grief of the passing of my childhood dog, Smokey. I didn't know what to expect being a first time cat owner, & fortunately, I was blessed with caring for the sweetest adventure cat.

On the evening of July 3rd, Bugs started behaving strangely & refused to eat. I was hoping it was minor & just due to stress from fireworks. However, overnight he became lethargic, lost a tremendous amount of weight, & started throwing up yellow bile. As July 4th passes by, Bugs goes another day without eating. I figured it was best to take Bugs to the vet for a check up on July 5th; after all the commotion was done with. During the visit I was informed he was FIV+, anemic, and going through severe liver failure. I was referred to see a specialist as Bugs was in critical condition as he was refusing to eat. I received a second opinion later that evening and was given an estimate of $8,646 - $12,802 for his treatment plan which consists of 2-3 days in the hospital, blood transfusions, xrays, feeding tube, along with a long lists of extensive bloodwork & testing.

On May 21st, Bugs got out and went missing over the span of a few days. Thankfully, he was found on May 24th, a couple blocks away from home. I believe this is when he contracted FIV+, as Bugs was found with deep lacerations all around his body and face.

On July 6th, he slowly regained his appetite; although he is still very lethargic & still showing signs of jaundice. I am hopeful that this treatment will help prolong Bugs wellbeing & life. I believe the compounded stress from fireworks & anemia exacerbated his undetected liver disease resulting in liver failure. Especially now, knowing he is FIV+ & immunocompromised.

I am doing my best to be resilient for Bugs; as he is continually showings signs of improvement with his appetite slowly coming back. I have already spent $1000+ in medical expenses & only have $4000 coverage left on Bug's insurance policy. I am currently accepting gigs on my days off set, as I need the funds immediately to ensure Bug's wellbeing.
