Hi everyone, my name is Kayla and I’m reaching out with a heart full of hope and a heavy sense of urgency.

My beloved therapy dog Buddy — my best friend, my shadow, my whole world — has fallen critically ill. Just days ago, he was running around happy and full of life. Within a few hours, he collapsed into weakness, stopped eating, and was rushed to the emergency vet. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of tests, uncertainty, and fear.

Buddy is currently hospitalized and receiving round-the-clock care. His white blood cells and platelets are dangerously low, and we still don’t have a definitive diagnosis. So far, he’s had:

Full blood work (multiple times)

ACTH stimulation testing (to rule out Addison’s disease)

Abdominal and thoracic ultrasounds

Chest X-rays

Intravenous fluid therapy and medications

Ongoing monitoring in a specialist clinic

We’re doing everything we can to keep fighting for answers — and for his life.

We now are waiting for a medical specialist to see his case.

Right now, Buddy is showing small but important signs of fight: he’s alert outside of the kennel, eating small amounts of food, and still looking to us with that spark of love and trust in his eyes. The vets believe he still has a chance — and so do I.

But the costs are rising fast, and I can’t do this alone anymore. His care has already reached into the thousands, and ongoing hospitalization, medications, and possible further diagnostics or treatment (like chemotherapy or transfusions) could escalate even further.
