Buca is our sweet rescue from the Franklin County Dog Shelter. She’s only 8 months old, and we’ve loved her since she joined our family at 12 weeks old. We brought Buca home to become a service dog for our daughter with social needs, but she has become so much more—a true pillar of our family and our community. When she was being fostered by a close friend, everyone in our neighborhood was trying to figure out who could give her a forever home. In the end, we knew she was meant to be with us.

Buca is playful, loving, and always ready for an adventure. She loves her toys and is a big chewer, which unfortunately led to her swallowing a toy that caused a dangerous blockage in her intestines. Now, she needs emergency surgery today to survive. Without this surgery, we’re faced with heartbreaking choices we never imagined—rehoming her or even considering euthanasia.
