Bubs Bar-B-Q has been a staple in Sunderland, Massachusetts since 1979, serving up delicious BBQ to the community, UMass Amherst, Amherst College, and countless loyal customers for 46 years. Four years ago, my wife and I heard that Bubs was going to close its doors, and we couldn’t let that happen. We took a leap of faith, bought the business, and dedicated ourselves to making everything fresh—from smoking meats with local wood to picking up produce from nearby farms. Our menu features favorites like fried gator, brisket, ribs, wings, and pulled pork, all made with care and a commitment to quality.
We always dreamed of buying the building to secure Bubs’ future, but life had other plans. After using our savings for fertility treatments, we weren’t able to come up with the funds needed to purchase the property. Now, the building has been sold, and we are unsure of the future for the building. This news has been heartbreaking, but we’re determined to keep Bubs alive. Our dream is to start a food truck so we can continue serving our community and keep the spirit of Bubs Bar-B-Q going strong.
We’re reaching out for your support to help us make this transition. With your help, we can bring Bubs Bar-B-Q on the road, preserve the memories and traditions of the past 46 years, and create new ones for future generations. Thank you for believing in us and for helping keep Bubs a part of our community.
