Help Needed with Mounting Legal Fees to Stop Them From Being Euthanized and Bring Them Home

Our Dogs: Beloved Rescues and Family Members

Our family is devastated by the crisis facing our two beloved rescue dogs: Bubba, a 6-year-old Terrier Mix male, and Stewie, a 2.5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) male.

They have been with us since they were each just 3-4 months old and are like siblings to our children. They have no previous history or signs of aggression. Furthermore, Stewie recently completed six weeks of training to perform soft mouth retrieval of game upon command, a specialized skill that demonstrates his high level of discipline and gentle nature. We can’t imagine our lives without these gentle souls.

The Incident and The Seizure

This devastating crisis began after Bubba and Stewie accidentally got out by mistake on October 29th. This escape was an isolated event, not habitual behavior.

When a neighbor called us to notify us, we left right away and returned home with both dogs within approximately 15 minutes of receiving the call, securing them safely back in our home.

Tragically, while they were loose, we were notified that they were allegedly involved in two separate incidents involving neighborhood cats, and both cats later succumbed to their injuries. We are heartbroken by this loss.

The Crisis: Unaware of any police action, we were completely devastated when Animal Control and police arrived at our home on November 3rd. Our dogs were seized and taken to the animal shelter after my wife was told she would be arrested for obstruction if she did not immediately surrender them. They have been in custody ever since.

A police officer (not Animal Control) has labeled our family pets as 'DANGEROUS ANIMALS' and has ordered them to be euthanized.

The Urgent Legal Battle: Appeal Scheduled for December 5th

We are fighting this destruction order with everything we have. The appeal to determine Bubba and Stewie’s final fate is scheduled for December 5th.

The legal and evaluation costs to prepare for this urgent, complex trial are mounting rapidly. We must immediately retain our legal team, secure necessary court filings, and hire crucial expert witnesses before the deadline.
