Help Save Briggs: Surgery for Scottie's Best Friend
Donation protected
My name is Scottie McClelland, I am a local musician here in Bend that promotes and puts on events for other local musicians. Bend Roots Revival, HomeGrown Music festival, to name a few if you're a local here to Bend.
Enough about me... I am starting a go fund me for my Dog Briggs. Briggs is an 11 year old cattle dog that I've had since he was six weeks old. When he was around 7 he started having trouble pooping, I took him to the vet multiple times with not one vet able to correctly diagnose the issue. Last year it got to a point were I had to take him to a specialist who finally told me what was causing the issue after years and multiple vet visits of trying to figure it out. Briggs was a un-neutered male who's prostate grew too large, due to excess testosterone. With the enlarged prostate and his constant constipation for years, he developed a hernia in his anal canal. We neutered him with the hopes his prostate will shrink (which it did and gave him some relief the last year). Until recently... over the last month and I've had to take him to the vet twice because he was unable to poop and he had to get put under sedation so the vets could manually remove it. Costing close to $900 each time.
Briggs is a lively 11 year old cattle dog with many years left in him. He has no other health issues and spends his days pain free playing with his siblings until he has to poop ofcorse. The vets have recommended a surgery to repair the muscle. The hernia surgery is $7000. Like most of us, I live week to week. With the events I put on, shows I play, dog sitting and the part time music industry jobs I have, I can not afford the surgery. Briggs is my best friend and has been my rock for over a decade, I fear if I'm not able to do the surgery for him, I will have to put him down even though he's got sooo much more to give.
I ask the Bend Community and beyond, please help me save Briggs. Anything helps ❤️.
