I am usually the last person to ask for help, but yet here I am with hope for kindness and big hearts. Meet our Brandi! She is our extremely loving 13 month Labrador Retriver fur baby. When she was 3 months old, she got her leg tangled on her leash which caused a small greenstick fracture; such a fluke accident. There was every hope that it would heal without any complications. However, we soon discovered that Brandi's growth plate closed. Since the growth plate closed while she was so young, it has completely stunted and altered her leg's growth. Brandi has already gone through an initial surgery ($3,500 - not including the intial break) where a small portion was taken out of one bone to allow room for her larger bone to grow. Our hopes were that this would allow room for the bone to grow at a pace without too much deformity. However, as you can see, her one paw actually faces nearly backwards, causing a great deformity. After another $1,600 of tests, we found out she will need to undergo a full Osteotomy to reconstruct her leg so that she can optimize her quality of life. She is only a puppy at 13 months old and has so much life left to live. Her heart is so big and kind and we cannot go without doing something for this little loving being, she has been through so much already in her short lifetime and is still fighting. The next surgery is predicted to be around $7,000 and we do not have pet insurance. Any little bit helps and we would appreciate it more than you would ever know.
