Help save Bithi: 19 year old fighting a rare, deadly disease

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for a young girl named Bithi, a bright and loving 19-year-old from Bangladesh. Bithi is the second eldest of four sisters in a family of six. Her father works tirelessly in Kuwait to support them, but now they are facing a battle far beyond what they could ever have imagined—or afford.

Just two days ago, Bithi was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disorder. GBS causes the immune system to attack the body's own nerves, damaging the protective myelin sheath around them. It leads to sudden weakness, paralysis, and in severe cases, respiratory failure.

Right now, both of Bithi’s legs are paralysed, and doctors fear her arms will soon follow. Her condition is worsening, and time is running out. Every minute in the hospital is critical—and costly. Even getting a diagnosis required extensive medical testing, and her family has already spent over £4,000 (৳580,000 BDT) just to reach this stage.

But there’s more to Bithi than her illness—she is a brilliant student with a bright future ahead of her. She just finished her university admission and has always dreamed of becoming a financial accountant—to help others, support her family, and make a difference in the world. She’s worked so hard to get to this point, and now all of that is at risk. Her family depends on her, not just emotionally, but for the hope she carries for a better future for all of them.

There is treatment—but it’s heartbreakingly out of reach.

Bithi urgently needs a life-saving injection called IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin)—an infusion made from healthy donors’ antibodies—as well as plasmapheresis, a procedure to cleanse her blood. The IVIG treatment alone will cost between £5,000–£6,000 (৳725,000–৳870,000 BDT), and that doesn’t include hospital stays or further care.

We are not trying to cover everything—we just want to help a little. To ease the pressure, to give her a chance.
