Hi, my name is Kyle, and about four years ago, I agreed to foster a German Shepherd named Birdie. Since then, she’s become my family — loyal, loving, and incredibly strong.

Recently, Birdie was diagnosed with cancer in her front left leg. After spending nearly $3,000 on diagnostics, I was told that the only way to stop the cancer from spreading is to amputate the leg. The first estimate for surgery was over $8,000, and I was heartbroken. I began to lose hope and thought I might have to say goodbye to her.

But then a miracle happened.

UC Davis Veterinary Surgery Department has approved us for a reduced-cost surgery at $1,700. It's scheduled for October 15th — exactly one month from today.

While the surgery itself is now within reach, I still need to cover:

Travel from Los Angeles to Davis, CA (gas for my truck)

Hotel/lodging for several days

Post-surgery care and follow-ups

Any medications or supplies she’ll need as she recovers
