Give Benny a Chance: Donate for His Treatment
Donation protected
On Saturday, September 7th, a friend of Puppy Love Maternity Rescue located in Somis, CA rescued this small puppy. He was whimpering with open wounds and drenched in bleach, in an area in AV where people reported hearing a dog screaming and yelping. Additionally, the temperatures have been in the triple digits for the past week here in Southern California.
The puppy came to our friend, Kaileb, wagging his tail and begging for affection. Kaileb is a horse trainer and understands animals and from the look of the puppy, it appeared that he was abused.
We were out of town. We are at capacity. If he goes to the shelter with those wounds he would be euthanized. As a small black puppy he will be euthanized. So we arranged to take him in.
Kaileb assessed and cleaned his wounds, and he was eating and drinking. Friends and families of our rescue organization stepped in our absence. Kaileb kept him safe and calm overnight.
A follower of our rescue page on Facebook, Cayla, saw our post and immediately reached out willing to help foster him and get him to a vet appointment we were able to schedule. He is in loving hands. He has been named Benny by Cayla's children. They are helping to care for him by making him cards, playing calming music and reading to him. Cayla is administering medication around the clock to help stabilize Benny. Our loving veterinarian, Dr. Novy has examined Benny and he is being treated for his wounds.

Bleach on an animal's skin can cause severe chemical burns. Benny has a chance to survive but he will require major medical care. We considered euthanasia, but with the gentle guidance of Dr. Novy, we all decided to support in this fight of his young life. The next three weeks are critical, our goal is to prevent suffering. Our rescue does not currently have the funds that are necessary for Benny's care and recovery.
This is an innocent creature that reached out and needs our help. Any amount would be so much appreciated. This puppy has fight and is loved.
