You may not know our family, but Bella means everything to our twins, Sammie and Sophie, who both had incredibly difficult starts in life. In just three months, she has changed our home completely. She helped Sammie find his voice, greets the twins every morning, and settles them every night with cuddles and snuggles. She is genuinely the most loving, gentle dog — the kind who seems to know exactly when someone needs her. She has also become emotional support for me, bringing calm when life felt overwhelming.
Bella is currently in ICU after becoming suddenly and critically unwell. Although she has moments where she is bright, eating, and affectionate, she has suffered seizures and requires constant monitoring and specialist care.
Bella has been diagnosed with a liver shunt. Without surgery to correct this, her long-term prognosis is poor. Medication alone cannot fix the underlying problem — surgery is her best and only chance at a full, healthy life.
Because Bella has experienced seizures, likely triggered by anaesthesia, her care is more complex. She must be carefully stabilised by the ICU and neurology teams before she can safely undergo surgery.
What We’re Raising Funds For
To be completely transparent, we are fundraising in clear stages:
£1,500 — Immediate ICU Stabilisation
This covers the next few days of:
- Intensive care monitoring
- Anti-seizure medication and neurological support
- Liver-support medication and specialist nutrition
This operation gives Bella her chance at a future without constant illness and seizures.
We have already used Bella’s full insurance, our savings, and borrowed money to cover her emergency care and ICU stay. The ongoing ICU costs and upcoming surgery are far beyond what we can manage alone.
Every donation — no matter how small — directly helps Bella move one step closer to stabilisation and surgery. Sharing this page helps us reach people who may be able to support her.
Thank you for taking the time to read Bella’s story. Even if you don’t know us personally, your kindness is helping give a deeply loved dog the chance at a healthy future — and giving two children hope that their best friend can stay with them for years to come
