Hi, my name is Taylor Peters, and I'm posting this with a heavy but hopeful heart.
Over the past few days, our sweet dog Bella, who has been part of our family since the day she was born eight years ago, suddenly stopped acting like herself. She became lethargic, stopped eating, and we noticed a concerning brownish discharge. By Saturday evening, her condition worsened drastically. She could barely move, and we knew something was seriously wrong.
With our regular vet closed for the weekend, we rushed her to the emergency animal hospital. What we thought might be a simple UTI turned into the most terrifying news: Bella’s uterus had ruptured. She was diagnosed with pyometra, a severe, life-threatening infection that required emergency surgery. The vet told us without immediate surgery, she likely wouldn’t survive another 36–48 hours.
In that moment, we didn’t hesitate. Bella is more than just a pet, she’s family, and we knew we had to do whatever it took to save her life. The surgery had to be performed overnight, with a specialized ER surgical team called in, and we were told it would be extremely expensive. Still, there was no question. We agreed to do whatever was necessary.
Around 1:00 a.m., we got the call: the surgery was a success. Bella pulled through like the strong girl she is and spent the night in ICU recovering. The next morning, we brought her home, overjoyed and overwhelmed with gratitude.
While we’re incredibly thankful to have our girl back, we are now faced with a vet bill that’s financially devastating. It’s hard for me to ask for help, but this situation has truly hit us hard, and we’re reaching out to friends, family, and kind strangers who understand what it means to love a pet like family.
Any amount helps, and we’re deeply grateful for your support. Whether it’s $5, $50, or even just sharing this page, it means the world to us and to Bella.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
