Bean is my 16 year old daughter's cat. He will be 3 years old in April. Earlier this month, Bean decided to eat a very long ribbon. 2/13 he had to have surgery to have it removed after a couple days of going back and forth to the vet for iv fluids to help stabilize him because of how dehydrated he had become (the vet was worried he couldn't survive the anesthesia with his kidney values where they were).
After he came home, he still wasn't eating much, but he was drinking water and we were hoping he was slowly on the mend. He went back to the vet twice for check ups, the last one was on the 18th. Today is 2/21 and he is back in surgery. We noticed his stitches had opened up and took him back to the vet. Due to snow, they didn't have a full staff and we were sent to another vet office. Some of his muscle tissue and the tissue that holds the abdominal wall together is infected and needs to be removed.
My son has helped me to cover the cost of everything, but our credit is tapped out. I am a single mom with 3 children under my care. My daughter's father has refused help. I owe my son for everything he has put towards saving Bean for his sister. The first visit was over $500, the second was almost $300, the surgery was over $900. The check ups were $100 and $50 and now this surgery will be around $3000. While we have maxed out our credit cards and the care plan my son qualified for, paying for all of this on our own will mean longer lasting financial struggles. But I can't just let my daughter's beloved pet and emotional support animal die over a ribbon. So I've come here to ask for help covering these expenses. I can collect the receipts and post them as well for proof of what we have spent.
