Help Save Bando’s Leg – Urgent Vet Care Needed

Update on Bando – What’s Happened with His Injury

Hi everyone, I wanted to share what’s been going on with Bando. It’s been really difficult and stressful lately.

When we first took Bando to PDSA, they told us he had a broken tibia in his back leg. They said he would need specialist treatment to repair the break, which would cost thousands of pounds — or else he would need an amputation.

Bando was only sedated for an X-ray at PDSA — prior to the X-ray I had to sign a form which stated I was made aware due to bando having a heart murmur he was at high risk of not waking up from the anaesthetic he needed for the X-ray to go ahead… I spent hours on end waiting stranded there on my own with no update, no phone call, I didn’t know if I was going to be bringing my boy home I was heartbroken. He didn’t receive any treatment, cast, or support from them. After sedation, he was the last pet sent out to me…before he was fully awake, and worse, they sent him out after the vets had closed, leaving us stuck on the street with no help. It was very stressful and upsetting.

Later this week , the Animal Trust reviewed his X-rays through the referral they received and said the bone PDSA said was broken isn’t broken at all. Now they need to fully assess his injuries because they don’t actually know what’s wrong with his leg.

Because they need specialist care to assess and treat him properly, we have to arrange that next step.

This misdiagnosis has caused delays and a lot more stress for Bando and us. We’re now facing urgent new vet bills just to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

We need as much help as possible to get Bando the specialist care he needs. If you can donate, share, or send positive thoughts, it means the world to us.

Thank you all so much for supporting Bando — he’s a brave boy and we’re fighting to get him the care he deserves. ❤️

Hi, my name’s Chelsea and I’m asking from the bottom of my heart for help with my boy, Bando – my little Chihuahua, my shadow, my best mate.

Bando had an accident and broke his back leg. Right now, we’re in a critical window – the vets have told us we have just a few days to try and save the leg, or we’ll be left with no choice but to amputate. We’re running out of time.

On top of that, Bando has just been diagnosed with a grade 5 heart murmur – meaning his heart needs extra care. He’s not showing any symptoms yet (thankfully), but it’s serious. It means any operation – whether to fix or remove the leg – must be done by a specialist, using heart-safe anaesthetic and close monitoring the whole way through.

Why It’s So Urgent

Without immediate treatment, Bando could lose his leg – or worse, face complications under anaesthetic if it’s not managed properly. We need to move fast, but safely.

To give him the best chance, we need:
• Specialist vet surgeons with cardiac experience
• Heart scans (echocardiogram)
• Pre-op bloods and x-rays
• Special anaesthesia and monitoring
• Pain meds, recovery care, or surgery (if it comes to amputation)

Why Bando Means Everything

If you know me, you know what Bando means to me. He’s been there through everything – grief, heartbreak, anxiety, tough nights and even tougher days. He’s not just a pet – he’s my emotional support, my protector, my comfort. And he means the world to my daughter too.

Nevaeh sees him as a little brother – he’s the closest thing she’s ever had to a sibling. Without him, we’d be lost.

He’s still full of life, still wagging his tail, still fighting to stay by our side. I want to give him every chance to keep that leg, keep his spirit, and keep being the little brother Nevaeh adores.

How You Can Help

If you can donate anything, no matter how small, it all adds up. And if you can’t donate, just sharing this could help us find someone who can. Every bit of help gives Bando a better shot at making it through safely and keeping his spirit — and hopefully, his leg — intact.

We’re not giving up. Not on him. Not now.

Thank you for reading this.
