Hi, my name is Yaqeen and I'm starting this fundraiser to help save a mother's life.
Bakhita is a 49 years old mother of 5, struggling with autoimmune hepatitis (immune reaction of the body attacking her liver and causing damage). Her case progressed over the past couple of years to end stage liver damage and cirrhosis. She requires urgent liver transplant to survive as her general health has plummeted and she is just at 40kg of body weight!
Bakhita has already located a matching donor who is a sibling and was waiting for the first transplant centre in Sudan to commence its operation since the beginning of 2021. But because of the economic and political unrest in the country her operation has been postponded over and over again.
The family is of modest financial means with no way to secure the 40,000 USD required to undergo a liver transplant in Turkey (the second cheapest option since the first- India is out of question currently due to travel restrictions and the ungoing covid crisis).
Last week she had to be urgently hospitalized as her health deteriorated severely, and while we feared the worst, she miraculously pulled through.
Bakhita is a warm, happy, kind soul who is an extraordinary mother, wife, aunt, friend and sister. She is patient and ever hopeful during the past trying years with her illness. She has 5 young children with the youngest of them only a toddler.
