Help Save Baby’s Placenta for Big Brother’s Future

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jasmin, and I’m fundraising for my little boy, Rupert.

Rupert is 2 years old and has cerebral palsy, caused by a birth-related brain injury called periventricular leukomalacia. Despite everything he faces, he is the happiest, most determined little boy — and every day he works so hard to overcome challenges with his movement and development.

Last week, we were told something we never expected:
our new baby’s placenta could help Rupert in the future through developing stem cell therapy.
This could give him a chance at better mobility, independence, and a brighter future — something every parent dreams of for their child.

Our new baby is due in December, which means we are now running out of time to get everything in place. This opportunity only happens once, at birth, and the placenta must be collected immediately by a specialist medical team.

The stem cell treatment is already available in the USA, and children are receiving it there now. We are hoping that before we have to consider travelling abroad, the treatment will become licensed and available here in the UK. Collecting and storing the stem cells now gives Rupert the best chance of accessing treatment as soon as it becomes available.

The cost of collection and storage is around £6,500, and it must be paid the day after delivery. Future therapy sessions will cost much more, starting from around £25,000, but for now we are focusing on taking this first, crucial step.

Why this means everything to us

The treatment is not 100% guaranteed to be successful, but as Rupert’s mummy I want to give him the very best chance at living his best life. He’s my little boy, and I want him to dream big — and to have every opportunity possible to reach his full potential.

As a mum, I want to do everything in my power to give Rupert the best possible chance in life. Knowing there is even a small possibility that stem cell treatment could help him walk, play, and thrive makes this opportunity mean more than words can say.

How the funds will be used

Specialist placenta collection at birth

Stem cell processing and secure storage

Any immediate medical fees linked to the collection

When Rupert is able to start treatment, we will use the stored stem cells to begin therapy — ideally here in the UK, but we will travel to the USA if that is the only option.

Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to giving Rupert a chance he wouldn’t otherwise have.
If you can help — by donating or simply sharing — it would mean the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, support, and hope for Rupert’s future.
