Help Baby Shark the Bunny – Surgery for a Sweet Lop Rabbit
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alexander, and I’m a high school senior in Austin, Texas. I’m raising money for my beloved rabbit, Baby Shark — a 5-year-old gray mini lop who has brought so much love and joy into our lives.
Recently, Baby Shark developed a cyst at the base of her left ear. It has continued to grow, and our vet has warned that if it’s not removed soon, it could begin affecting her nervous system — leading to head tilt, loss of balance, and even uncontrollable rolling. In other words, it could rob her of the ability to live a happy, pain-free life.
The recommended treatment is surgery — including a CT scan ($1,500) and an operation that could cost between $2,000 and $2,500, depending on whether the infection has spread to her middle ear. It’s not an easy decision, and the surgery carries risks, but it's the only path to stop her condition from worsening.
Baby Shark will be treated at Agave Pet Clinic in Leander, Texas — a highly regarded veterinary clinic known for compassionate and expert care of rabbits and other small animals.
Who is Baby Shark?
Baby Shark is family.
She had a sister, Quebec, who sadly passed away when they were young. Ever since then, Baby Shark has become even more affectionate and bonded with us. She follows us around the house, nudges our hands for head rubs, and knows how to spin on command and jump over obstacles for treats. She’s smart, curious, and social — and loves bananas, cranberries, and working on puzzles when she’s bored.
She brings so much warmth into our home, and we want to give her the same love and care that she’s given to us.
Why I’m Asking for Help
I’ve already saved $500 and am working to contribute at least $750 of my own earnings before I leave for the U.S. Air Force Academy this June to serve my country. While I’ll be away at the Academy, my mom will continue caring for Baby Shark. She loves Baby Shark just as much and has the experience to give her the attention and care she’ll need post-surgery
I know there are many important causes in the world, but if you’ve ever loved an animal or pet, you know that their lives matter too. They depend on us. I want to do everything in my power to give her a second chance at a healthy life.
Where Your Donation Goes
- CT Scan: $1,500
- Surgery: $2,000–$2,500
- Total Goal: $4,000
If we happen to raise more than what’s needed, I will donate the extra funds to the local shelter dedicated to rescuing and rehoming rabbits in Pflugerville, Texas.
How You Can Help
Would you consider donating $5, $10, or $25 to help Baby Shark get the care she needs?
Even small amounts add up. Just 40 people giving $100 would fully fund her treatment.
If we raise more than needed, every extra dollar will go to our local rabbit rescue and shelter in Pflugerville, Texas.
If you’ve ever loved a pet, you know how much they mean. Thank you for helping give Baby Shark a second chance.
I’ll be posting updates here throughout her treatment and recovery so you can see how your support is making a difference.
With gratitude,
Alexander
