Help save Avery Ironheart's home!

Donation protected
Without $10,000 for back taxes by January of 2024, Castle Ironheart, the childhood home of Avery Ironheart, left to her when her parents passed, will be auctioned off.

Please help if you can, as much as you can. This is a desperate situation.

Castle Ironheart, as she likes to call it, was left to her when her parents passed. After being in the Air Force and being in the workforce, Avery came back to her home to care for her father but also developed her own serious health problems.

Avery went through a financially devastating divorce a few years ago, at which time it came out that her former spouse, who had been taking care of the finances, had not been paying the property taxes on the home as agreed, but instead had been putting that money away for herself. Avery did not even know until after they had been apart for almost a year. Avery lost her job a year ago and has spent the last year applying for every job that she can, as well as going through the process of applying for disability, which has been a huge time commitment. Recently, a process server came to the home to drop off relevant paperwork. That is how she found out that the county had sold her home to an auction company in February of 2021. This meant that her time to pay the back taxes and still keep the house suddenly had a deadline.

Losing this home is just not an option here. Avery would not be accepted into any homeless shelters in the area even if she tried. She is a veteran with serious medical issues and would have trouble receiving her life-saving medications and would have to acquire a PO box to even do so, if she even had the means. Her life expectancy due to heart issues is two to three WEEKS without the medications.

Avery doesn't do well on her own. Her mental health would be severely impacted. Her current relationship with Sam Laurberg and her cat, Wilbur, would end. The loss of them and the house would end Avery. Sam’s life would also be impacted in that she would have to find somewhere else to live.

If this effort fails, on top of all this, Avery also would be sleeping in her car in January without being able to use her CPAP machine.

The stakes here are dire.

Please help save Avery and her home!
