Help Save Austin's Cat

Since Austin’s passing, I have had the joy of caring for his cat, Baast (Boo). He has been a very happy, healthy, playful, and loving cat of 7 years old. Earlier this week, Boo was diagnosed with a fatal illness (FIP). To my understanding, it’s a virus that lives non symptomatic in many cats but in very very rare cases it can randomly mutate to become fatal. It used to be a terminal diagnosis but now there is a cure that is super new, very effective, but incredibly expensive. Luckily, once treated, it does not come back. But without this treatment, he will die soon and that’s clearly not what I want for Austin’s cat.

I spoke to multiple doctors and researched multiple treatment plans. Expenses are expected to be around $5000(muuuch better than the last estimate), but possibly more, over the next 4 months. This includes medication as well as frequent bloodwork and appointments to monitor his status. If you’d like to help out with the financial burden of keeping this lil dude alive, it would mean the world to me and those who love Boo. Taking care of him during this treatment is going to be a lot of work so anything to lessen the stress of it would be greatly appreciated beyond what I have words for right now.

While I am doing what I can to research alternative and cheaper treatments, the cost for this illness is still considerable. I would hate for money to be the reason he doesn’t recover, but I am also an experienced pet owner and am aware that the difficult decision for euthanasia may have to be made if it becomes too much money.

On a positive note. Everything I’ve heard says that the first week of treatment is the most critical and telling for recovery. He is now 4 days in and responding well. Despite everything, I am feeling optimistic about his situation.
