“We brought home our tiny puppy to heal our broken home—now we’re fighting to save his life just weeks later.”
On March 15, we said goodbye to our beloved senior Chihuahua. The house felt quiet, and our shepherd mix, Loki, wasn’t himself—he became withdrawn, slept more, and seemed truly heartbroken.
We weren’t planning to get another dog so soon. But then we came across a litter of Chiweenie puppies we just couldn’t forget. After visiting them, one tiny puppy completely stole our hearts. That’s how Ashy came home with us on April 6.
From the start, Ashy brought something special back into our home. Watching Loki slowly open up again—playing, wagging his tail, becoming himself—felt like healing. Ashy filled our home with joy we didn’t realize we needed.
But just a few weeks later, everything changed.
At first, we noticed Ashy becoming more tired. He slept more, played less, and preferred curling up quietly. We thought maybe it was normal—he’s just a baby, not even three months old.
On April 27, during what we thought would be a routine vaccine visit, our world turned upside down.
The vet noticed his body temperature was low and ran blood tests. They discovered his blood sugar was dangerously low. We were immediately referred to emergency care, where Ashy was hospitalized and placed on IV fluids and dextrose to stabilize him.
Since then, he has been fighting to maintain his blood sugar on his own. If he doesn’t eat every couple of hours, his levels begin to drop again.
The vets are now trying to determine the cause. Possibilities include serious conditions like Addison’s disease, insulinoma, or a liver shunt. Early test results have been inconclusive, and now a CT scan is needed to confirm what’s really going on.
So far, we have already spent over $3,000 in emergency care and diagnostics. The upcoming CT scan and additional testing will cost another $2,500—and that’s before any treatment or possible surgery, which could be even more expensive.
We never expected to face this kind of situation just weeks after bringing Ashy home. We love him deeply, and he has already brought so much happiness back into our lives—but we are struggling to keep up with the overwhelming costs.
We are asking for help to give Ashy a chance.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward his diagnostics, treatment, and care. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this means the world to us.

I’ll keep everyone updated as we learn more about Ashy’s condition.
Thank you for taking the time to read Ashy’s story and for helping us fight for his future.
