Save Our Aquatic Therapy Pool!!
A few months ago it was announced that Lurie Children’s Health Services at Arlington Pediatric Therapy (APT) would be closing, eliminating more than 50 therapy jobs and leaving hundreds of disabled children without access to critical therapy services. The closure also resulted in the loss of the only pediatric therapy pool within a 20-mile radius, which represents a vital resource for children who benefit significantly from aquatic therapy. This closure impacts so many families in the surrounding communities who have come to rely on Arlington Pediatric Therapy for a multitude of services.
In response to this gap in care, two of the APT therapists have taken it upon themselves to lease the therapy pool located within the former clinic space. The goal is to reestablish aquatic therapy services for the current pediatric clients who previously relied on them, as well as to serve new families in need.
The money raised will support the startup costs associated with launching an independent therapy practice, including costs related to therapy equipment and outfitting the space to meet and exceed the needs associated with specialized aquatic therapy.
