My name is Kristen Hart, my husband is Todd Hart, and Hartland Oaks Sanctuary & Education Center started as a dream that grew out of our backyard and hearts.
I’ve spent over 25 years working in veterinary medicine, helping animals as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager. I’ve dedicated my career to saving lives, easing suffering, and standing up for animals when no one else would.
But no matter how many animals I helped at work…
There were always more needing help at home. Fortunately I have a supportive, loving husband.
What started with a few rescue cases quickly grew into something bigger:
A sanctuary for domestic and farm animals.
We didn’t plan for it. The animals just… keep coming.
Stories of neglect, abuse, abandonment, or medical crisis.
Along the way, Hartland Oaks became more than just a safe haven for animals. It became a place for people, too.
We educate children about compassion.
Special needs groups receive therapy visits.
Families reconnect with nature and each other.
School groups receive education and hands-on learning.
My husband and I fund this out of this out of our own pocket currently—with help from a few generous friends and community members—but the reality is… we can’t do this alone anymore.
The vet bills are rising. We need additional fencing.
And the animals still need us.
