Andres is my Spanish brother-from-un-otro-madre and his family needs help.
Andres Jesus Villacanas Lopes lives in Baeza, Spain. Specifically, Paseo de la Redonda. I snapped the cover photo up there from in front of his house back in 2019 on a visit to Baeza. Andres is 27; he moved home with his Mother and Father about 6 years ago after his Father had an accident. His work was construction, and the accident meant no more physical-labor. Insurance claims were filed, the business closed, and life moved on.
Sort of.
The insurance payments are held up in courts, and the banks are tired of waiting for payments due on the home. So a house worth a few hundred-thousand Euros, which they’ve lived in since 199X, is going to be foreclosed in 90 days, with 120,000 euro due – the balance on the house – due to stop that.
Andres has helped in the good times. For years now he’s been my source for classic cars in Spain, and over the past few years became my project manager in Baeza, overseeing the work on some of our Defender and Range Rover Classic rebuilds. His team does our Suffix Trail Rig models. It’s only with him that Commonwealth Classics is where it is today.
Andres has also helped in the bad times, sharing stress, compassion, and empathy, with an unwavering and genuine commitment as a friend. He moved home to help his family pay bills; works long hours harvesting Olives part of the year; studies late into the night for professional exams; contributes and cares for his family, and still manages to walk the dog.
He’s a guy you want in your corner, which means he’s in my corner too.
We build classic cars. Andres is a huge part of that. We going to throw that weight around. We’ve designed ten Baeza Edition builds, and are setting up this GFM so the margin we’d normally try and realize from those builds can instead go directly to Andres and his family, while the balance is used to build and deliver a truly special truck. You can read and learn more about those builds online, at www.cwclassics.com/baeza-edition.
