My name is Rebecca and I'm asking for your help for my friend Maria and her best friend, Amico the rescue Chihuhua.
Amico needs some infected teeth extracted by Winslow Animal Center as quickly as possible, before the infection takes over his entire body. The estimate for his care at Winslow Animal Clinic is $1,434.81 to $1,924.81. It may be more, but it won't be less than the lower estimate. Maria has applied to PAWS, our local animal welfare nonprofit, for assistance, and they've generously offered $500 from their emergency care fund towards Amico's surgery. So I've set our fundraiser goal at $1,500 to cover the balance plus the fees that GoFundMe will take from each donation.
Maria is a very hardworking member of our community, but as an adult with an intellectual/developmental disability, she doesn't have the same lifetime earning capacity as those of us who are typically developing. She is an excellent pet owner and covers all of Amico's daily care and routine vet visits - but for this unexpected infection, she and Amico need our help.
