La paciente es una mujer de 91 años que comenzó a experimentar su enfermedad actual hace aproximadamente tres meses, caracterizada por cambios en los hábitos evacuatorios, dolor en el flanco izquierdo, pérdida de peso y posterior ausencia de evacuaciones. Consultó a un médico quien recomendó estudios paraclínicos, incluyendo una tomografía computarizada (TTAC) contrastada del abdomen y pelvis, que reveló un colon dilatado con abundante materia fecal y una lesión en el colon sigmoides que parece obstruir parcialmente su luz. Fue referida a gastroenterología, donde se realizó una endoscopia digestiva superior, revelando un tumor lobulado, friable y ulcerado en el colon sigmoides, obstruyendo el 75% de su luz. Una biopsia reportó adenocarcinoma bien diferenciado, lo que llevó a una referencia para cirugía oncológica.
