Help Save Alfred's Leg: Support Needed

Donation protected
Our sweetest-ever cat, Alfred, has had a terrible accident. Y'all may remember Alfred as the tuxedo cat who showed up homeless, and we adopted. He sleeps with my 9-year-old, Jack, and 7-year- old, Finn, every night and greets everyone who comes to the house with honest affection and purring.

Curiosity kills the cat, sometimes it just maims them! My friend was visiting on Saturday and was moving some things from the back of her SUV and left the hatch open. Poor, curious Alfred jumped onto the roof of the car, and the weight of his body triggered the auto close on the hatch and locked it down on his right back leg.

The emergency doctor X-rayed the leg and declared it too badly mangled to save, and said it will have to be amputated. But she didn’t have boarding facilities at her vet, nor a surgeon on staff. So, all we could do was take him home with pain medications and keep him crated until we could find a surgical center that would take him.

Finally, today I was able to get him to a local surgical center at a veterinary hospital in town who took him in AND said they don’t think it needs amputation, and they will be able to save the leg! We were so thrilled, and I can’t wait for Jack and Finn to get home from school to hear this news.

But, the issue is the price tag. This is costing me $2,800 that is really just out of my budget as a single mom of three children. I will do it because I must – Alfred is a family member and he is relying on me to take care of him, just as the rest of my little family does. But it’s going to be really hard on me financially. If any of you want to contribute a little bit for our sweet guy, I would be SO grateful!

With the recent divorce and move to a new state and new schools, this is really just a big win my children need right now to get their sweet Alfred back “kneading dough” and purring on the beds! They don’t need another blow. We all thank you in advance for any little bit you can help with! This has been sort of a “village cat” from our old neighborhood, and sometimes it takes a village to keep protecting and loving them! Alfred sends his purrs!
