My name is Topher Campbell, I am an artist and filmmaker.

I create films, performances, installations, and sculpture that explores Black History, Black LGBTQ+ History and ways to honour and remember our collective past.

In 2024 I made “MY ARCHIVE IS A BODY”, a sculpture celebrating the achievements of the Black LGBTQ+ community and my own life influenced by Afro-futurism and joy. It’s a beautiful work commissioned by Tate Modern and displayed there in 2024 until February 2025. Since February it has been in storage curtesy of generous sponsorship by Birmingham Museum Trust. But now it must move and be stored elsewhere. This is a move that is very expensive.

I am asking for your help to preserve this unique peace of Black British History so that it can be enjoyed by future generations. A donation no matter how small will contribute to the transport and storage of MY ARCHIVE IS A BODY for the next few months. Professional storage is essential to maintain the integrity and power of this beautiful work.

The catch is that the work needs to be moved by 31st October 2025 or it will have to be destroyed. There is no alternative.
