Hi, my name is Estelle and I’m fundraising to help cover the vet costs for a rescue kitten I found.
About 2 weeks ago, I discovered a tiny kitten alone in a drain at my workplace. I couldn’t leave her there, so I brought her home and have been doing everything I can to help her recover. We’ve named her Cinnamon, and in such a short time she’s already become a very special part of our family.
This is my first time picking up and caring for a stray, so I’m learning as I go — but I’m determined to give her the best chance possible.
The good news is that Cinnamon has gained 500g since I found her and is now estimated to be around 10 weeks old, which is amazing progress.
However, after multiple vet visits — including a recent trip to Fairfield Road Veterinary Hospital — we’ve received some difficult news. Cinnamon’s left eye cannot be saved and will need to be surgically removed. Her right eye is also in very bad shape, and we’re currently doing everything we can with new antibiotics to try and save at least some of her vision.
We have a follow-up appointment next Tuesday where we’ll reassess her right eye and discuss the surgery further. The estimated cost for the eye removal alone is around $1,000, and the vet expenses are quickly adding up.
While I’m fully committed to giving Cinnamon a safe, loving forever home, the costs are becoming more than I can manage on my own. Like many families, we’re already feeling the pressure of the rising cost of living. My husband and I have four children, along with two cats and two dogs, but there was no way I could turn my back on this little girl when she needed help.
