Hi
Beltana is a historic town in outback South Australia with a population of 30 people. The hotel is being lovingly restored by the Ferguson family. The hotel in its day had an elegant bagatelle table.
The Bagatelle table is pictured here being loaded to go to Melbourne, The table has been in the Royal Victoria Hotel since 1883. When the hotel and the table fell on hard times they both deteriorated. The bagatelle table has been a fundamental part of the hotel story.
We through our own funds and patron's kind donations have had the table moved to Pegasus Billiards in Melbourne to commence its restoration. This is one of only 4 tables known to be inexistence in Australia.
The restoration cost is $6,500 and then the table needs to be transported back to Beltana to take up pride of place in the Bagatelle room at the hotel. All in all this is a further cost of approximately $12,000.
Any funds you can assist us with would be appreciated to restore this grand old girl back to life so bagatelle can again be played in the hotel.
Bagatelle is a billiards derived indoor table game. The game is played on a felt surface over a slate top similar to billiards. The table has a round end and was also known as bar billiards and was the for runner of the pin ball machine.
