I am writing to you today on behalf of someone who has touched the lives of so many, including mine. His name is Lakshan Jeewantha, a 29 year-old high school teacher from Sri Lanka. Lakshan has devoted his life to inspiring young minds and uplifting his community, but now he urgently needs our help to fight leukemia for the second time.

At just 20 years old, Lakshan was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) while he was on the path to fulfilling his dream of becoming a doctor. The diagnosis was devastating, forcing him to abandon his plans to attend medical school and focus on surviving. Through incredible determination and a successful bone marrow transplant, he overcame this life-threatening illness.

Though his dream of becoming a doctor was no longer possible, Lakshan refused to let his condition define him or stop him from contributing to society. He pursued his education against all odds and graduated with a university degree. Driven by his passion for giving back, he became a high school teacher, where he has inspired countless students to chase their dreams despite life’s challenges.

Lakshan’s work goes far beyond the classroom. He has been a mentor, a guide, and a source of hope for many, including me. As a student struggling to find my way, Lakshan tutored me, encouraged me, and helped me secure admission to university. Without his guidance, I would not be where I am today. His story of resilience and his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place continue to inspire me and everyone who knows him.

A New Battle Against Leukemia

Unfortunately, Lakshan’s leukemia has returned after 8 years, and the situation is critical. To survive, he requires chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant, which must be performed in India. The cost of the treatment is staggering, far beyond what Lakshan and his family can afford. Despite their best efforts, they are struggling to provide him with the care he needs.

This cause is deeply personal to me because I’ve witnessed the strength and determination of my friend as they battle this devastating illness. I cannot sit by knowing that the only barrier to potentially life-saving treatment is financial. With your help, we can give them a chance to recover and live the life they deserve.

How the Funds Will Be Used:

The funds raised will go directly toward:

1. Chemotherapy Treatments: This will be administered in India to prepare for the bone marrow transplant.
