Help Save a Life: Support Heart Transplant Costs
Donation protected
First off, thank you for stopping by my page to read this and even considering helping me.
The tldr... My heart disease has reached the stage I need to get a transplant. The donor list is hard enough, but the average cost of a transplant is 1.5 to 2 mil in the US. Luckily I've found a provider who can covrr most of it and I'll owe 380k. Not to mention after care meds. This seems like an unattainable amount but I have to try atleast for my families sake.
Ive been really kicking around the idea of sharing this or not, but I think my situation may help other people put life into perspective and learn to appreciate more.
I've struggled with heart disease since I was 19 and it's something I've always had to work around and adapt to. Well, last year I had severe heart failure that took me out for a couple days and left minor brain damage that has become more and more of an issue for me. At the same time I was diagnosed with thrombosis, making blood clots an even bigger issue for my heart. The past few months have really taken a toll on my mind and body and everything is slowly catching up with me.
Last month I was given an estimation for my current heart to give me roughly 4 more years before it can no longer function and support my body. I'm currently on a wait list for a transplant, but anyone who's familiar with that process knows it's not a great probability when you have specific genetic requirements making your approved donor list shrink more each month.
Ive made peace with my situation and plan to make the best of everything and stay positive going forward. Im not looking for sympathy, or any sad words from anyone. I just hope people understand how finite our time really is and how easy it is to lose that. Please cherish your time with the people you care about. Try your hardest to have more memories of happiness and love. Don't sacrifice yourself for something that's not promised and please respect a good work life balance for yourself. Be kind when you can, and don't forget everyone is trying to get through life the same as you. Kindness is always more effective than malice.
Smile, make your time count, and be kind to our world.
