My name is Ilona and I am raising funds to help save the life of this beautiful boy I’ve named Oli, which I came accross during my stay in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines.

While in the Philippines, I saw a lot of dogs in very rough shape, but Oli was just absolute skin and bones, eating dirt off the floor, looking like he was on the verge of collapse.

Out on a run, I saw him from accross the street and luckily had enough money on me to buy him a solid meal. He was very hesitant and almost looked confused as to why I was giving him food and it took a minute for him to understand it was really for him.

After he finished eating, he walked me all the way back to my hotel &i cried the entire way. Then he just sat in the middle of the road and watched me walk away. I kept turning around and sobbing and he just sat there till I was gone. He had the sweetest eyes that I just couldn’t get off my mind.

The way he looked into my eyes and I looked back trying to figure out how |could possibly save his life... I knew I had to try to find a way. I know there's so much suffering around the world like this and much much worse. But there's something about bearing witness to

it so closely and staring it directly inthe eyes that permeates your soul...It just ripped my heart out.

After speaking with some locals I met, I was able to make an arrangement with a man who was willing go catch Oli, bring him to the vet and essentially adopt him in exchange for monthly payment I would be sending to cover food + vet bills + a “caretaker salary”. As a condition for receiving these payments, the caretaker will be sending me weekly receipts, photos, vet’s evaluations and updates on Oli.

It doesn’t take much to nurse this boy back to health with the cost of things in the Philippines, so with a few thousand dollars, I’d have enough to support him for over a year, cover the treatments for him to become disease-free and hopefully, if all goes as planned, fly him home to me in the USA to give him a good life.

Anything helps — even $10 goes a long way here. Any excess money will also be donated towards helping another pupper here, there are so many of them in desperate need.
