One of our San Diego Fire Department captains, who tirelessly protects our community, is facing an unexpected crisis at his home. While he was on duty for 24 hours protecting San Diego lives and structures during Monday's storm, his own home was flooded with 2' of water. Like many of us, he doesn't have the additional flood insurance to cope with the extensive damages.
The Challenge
Without adequate insurance, he and his family now confronts the daunting task of demolishing and renovating his house to prevent further damage. He's currently at work with his family ripping up the flooring, baseboards and up to 2' of drywall. Next he'll need to rebuild and add further protections from our increasing storms.
How You Can Help:
Your support, whether through labor or monetary contributions, can make a world of difference. Let's rally together to ease the burden on one of our heros during this challenging time. If you can show up to help the demo process or show up for drywall repair and new floor installs, please reach out to Victor Carrasquillo for more details. If you are able to send a donation, it will go towards the extensive repair costs.
Why Contribute:
Every donation or hour spent with labor brings us one step closer to preserving the haven he calls home when he's not fighting for our city. Your generosity can help him rebuild and continue his vital role in safeguarding our community. This selfless family has declined repeated requests by the news to cover their story as they do not want to take attention or resources away from other families in need. Yet those of us who know them can't help wanting to show our support.
