Hello all,

I have initiated this fundraising campaign for my friend, Asad AbuHaweela and his family who urgently need our help. The AbuHaweela family from Gaza, Palestine, (consisting of 9 family members in total) parents, father, Salah (63 years), mother, Ghada (53 years), 2 sisters, Maysaa and Ayd, and 5 brothers Iyad, Amjad, Asad, Hatem, and Ayman had their home destroyed by intense bombings. Having to deal with the fact that their home, once a place of warmth and security has just been destroyed and now facing displacement, the family had no time to take any of this in and had to immediately travel to Khan Younis with just their clothes on their backs and a white flag in hand. They were informed Khan Younis was a safe zone and as we have all come to find out it was not. Like many other families in this situation, the family were forced to move from one place to another and had to reside in Rafah. Rafah, initially home to a population of 200,000, was inundated with over a million refugees. Due to the ongoing blockade, prices for basic goods have skyrocketed, with items such as 1kg of sugar costing an astounding £22.

Life in Rafah put the family in survival mode. The family lived in a makeshift tent exposing them to the harsh environment and bombs going off all around them. The family went through hell and suffered everyday. The lack of privacy and access to basic necessities has taken a toll on the family’s well-being.

Recently, Israel announced that all Palestinian's must evacuate Rafah and go back to Khan Younis. The family have been displaced so many times. Nowhere in Gaza is safe.

They are drained - emotionally, mentally and physically. Although they have lost everything they had ever known, they have not lost their hope in us.

The intention of this fundraiser is to help raise funds to directly secure the family with basic necessities such as food, cleaning supplies, clean clothing, blankets, materials for their tent and essential medical care. Please help in whatever way you can by sharing and donating this fundraiser, it will mean so much to them.
