Hey y'all!! My name is Brandon A Anderson and I am the owner of 9th and 9th Book and Music in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are a pre-owned book, music, instrument and record store and gallery with over 30 different local artists for sale through the shop. We began this endeavor to serve our community and create a safe space, a brick and mortar destination that provides arts access and opportunities to our community. We offer a Free Community Concert Series that recently won a BEST OF UTAH for best Free Community Concert Series.
Due to timing and events outside of our control (ongoing construction for over a year in front of the shop as well as personal issues visited upon us without our knowledge or ability to overcome) occurring within the traditionally slowest retail quarter of the sales year from Jan - March, we have come to an impasse that presents us with the loss of the shop and its community impact.
We have recently been put in a situation where we can bring our business loan to current or the full amount will come due resulting in the bank liquidating our shop and taking our home from my son and I. We had until December never missed a payment, but here we are. As our google reviews and customer interactions support, we are loved by the community and are a beacon of authenticity, love and the easing of suffering through our multiple charitable acts throughout the community.
We also operate one of the largest little free libraries in the city and children from the multiple surrounding schools will gather here, play music, write songs and generally have a generative space to spend their time after their school day ends.
We humbly ask for assistance in raising $18,000 in the next 60 days as a means to pay bank loans that are in arears as well as sustain our lease and Free Concert Series for the year to come. We cannot do this alone and we ask our community and the Gofundme community at large of bookstores, booknerds, musicians, artists, parents, new players and seasoned vets to come together for this cause.

Concerts are already a blast, but when you make them free, they instantly become a thousand times more fun—it's scientifically proven. Costs aside, it's great to get out and bump elbows with your fellow community members and support local artists.
