I am asking for your help for Iqra Abdi, a 7 year old girl who is fighting for her life against cancer.
Iqra is a young refugee from Kenya. Since December 2024, she has been receiving treatment in Hyderabad, India. For more than a year, her childhood has been replaced with hospital rooms, chemotherapy, and painful procedures. Every month, she spends two weeks admitted in the hospital and two weeks outside the hospital trying to regain strength before the next round of treatment begins.
Iqra has a tumor at the end of her spinal cord, between her buttocks. Because of its location, she cannot sit without severe pain. She cannot sit to eat comfortably. She cannot sit to play with other children. She cannot sit in school like a normal 7 year old. She sleeps on her side or on her stomach because the pain is too intense. While other children run and laugh, Iqra struggles through each day with discomfort and exhaustion.
For the past year and a half, I have been covering all of her medical expenses on my own. Each month, I pay about 1,700 USD for chemotherapy, hospital stays, medications, and related care. I am also a mother with children and responsibilities of my own. I have stretched every resource I have to keep her treatment going, but I have now reached a point where I cannot continue without help.
Her doctors have told us she urgently needs surgery to remove the tumor. This surgery is critical for her survival and for her chance to live without constant pain. The total cost of the surgery is 28,000 USD. This amount is far beyond what I can manage alone.
Iqra is only 7 years old. She deserves to grow up. She deserves to attend school without pain. She deserves to sit, play, and sleep comfortably. She deserves a future filled with hope, not hospital visits.
I am asking you to please help save her life. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward her surgery and medical expenses. If you are unable to donate, please share her story with others.
Your support can help give Iqra the chance to live the life every child deserves.
