This fundraiser is for baby amar Hammoud, a 6-month-old little girl from Lebanon with a life-threatening congenital heart defect. Despite everything she is going through, she is a smiling, loving baby full of light — but her tiny heart is struggling, and she urgently needs surgery to survive.

Her Medical Diagnosis (Explained Simply)
amar was born with a very rare and serious heart condition called “single ventricle physiology.”
This means:
• She only has one functioning heart chamber instead of two.
• She has a very large hole in the heart (VSD) causing the red and blue blood to mix.
• This has caused severe pulmonary hypertension (HTAP) — dangerously high pressure in her lungs.
• She also has a tiny patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) — two openings that should normally close after birth but didn’t.
• Because of this, she has too much blood going to her lungs, which can damage them permanently.
Her doctor’s official report states she needs urgent pulmonary banding surgery, a procedure that can stabilize her heart and save her life.
Without this surgery, amar is at risk of heart failure and irreversible lung damage.

Why the Surgery Is Urgent
amar’s cardiologist, Dr. Linda Daou, has confirmed that she needs surgery as soon as possible. Her condition is worsening because her heart is working much harder than it should.
This surgery will be performed at Hôtel-Dieu de France Hospital (St. Joseph Hospital) in Lebanon.
The cost of the operation, medications, hospitalization, and follow-up care is $40,000 USD — far beyond what the family can afford.
