Last week, I was made aware of a heartbreaking situation involving more than 20 dogs living in severe overcrowding and neglect at a home in Huffman, TX. Many of these dogs spend nearly their entire lives confined to kennels with little to no time outside. Others are living in a broken trailer with busted windows and no air conditioning. With summer temperatures rising in Texas, these conditions are becoming increasingly dangerous for the dogs' health and well-being. Among them are seven puppies who are only four weeks old and completely dependent on the adults caring for them.
When I visited, I approached the owners and offered to help find rescue placements and safe homes for the dogs. Unfortunately, they declined to surrender any of the animals but they have agreed to accept help with food, veterinary care, and spay/neuter services. Law enforcement is aware of the situation, but at this time they have decided not to pursue the case. As frustrating and heartbreaking as that is, sitting around waiting for someone else to step in isn’t an option. These dogs still need food, veterinary care, and a chance at a better life. Right now, the best thing we can do is help the dogs where they are while continuing to build trust and work toward a better outcome for them.
This fundraiser will provide food for the dogs and puppies, spay and neuter surgeries to prevent even more unwanted litters, veterinary care such as heartworm, flea & tick prevention, and vaccines, and transport costs to out-of-state rescues in the near future if surrender is possible. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping these dogs receive the care they desperately need. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser can make an enormous difference. Thank you for caring!
