Help Save 150 Horses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kendra and I'm raising funds for Jensen Ranch Rescue (JRR), a volunteer-run horse rescue society located one hour NW of Calgary, AB. JRR has been asked to assist with the rescue of over 150 horses in the past few months and the expenses are continuing to rise as the months get colder. JRR is a relatively new rescue but they've already been able to help almost 100 horses and they are always on call and available for all local horse related emergencies. They have been able to save horses that have life-threatening injuries, horses that are starving, and many babies from this year and last year. Many of the horses that need help are very scared and have been neglected for years. Unfortunately, the help is coming too late for many of the vulnerable ones … the young, the old and injured horses.
The dry summer meant that many horse owners weren’t able to supply water to their horses and many were forced to buy hay at record high prices or to give up their animals. Many beautiful and otherwise healthy horses will find themselves being sold for meat or for dog food simply because of the rising cost to care for them.
The cost of feed alone is over $1000 per horse each year and JRR is hoping to install water systems, buy panels to make corrals and build a quarantine barn to help treat incoming animals and protect the horses that are currently at the rescue. Raising funds to catch, feed, transport and provide veterinary care for these horses is the immediate need and they would require close to $50,000 to cover these expenses.
As an animal lover, I cannot watch horses die of thirst and starvation or be sold for slaughter when there’s a place like Jensen Ranch Rescue that can help so many if the funds were available.
Please consider donating to help these horses before it’s too late.
