Hey y'all,
Due to a real tornado of bad luck and timing, I find myself in need of some financial assistance. I have been supporting myself through a combination of unemployment benefits and freelance work where I can get it. In August, my roommate moved out and I have been paying essentially double rent. I would look for a roommate to help assuage this, but I plan on moving out of my current apartment once I find work and it seems rather silly and a waste of time to ask someone to move into a unit for a month or two at most. At the beginning of September, federal unemployment benefits stopped. The transition back to just state-level unemployment has been slow-moving, as you would expect. My usual freelance contacts were a little thin on work and as a result, I essentially made $0 in the month of September. I have dipped into my savings, but using them to pay both September and October rent has quickly depleted them.
Let me be the first to say that I didn't expect to have to do this again. I have been applying for jobs almost every single day since roughly mid-June. I have had several interviews that I thought were leading somewhere that ended up being dead ends. I have even applied for jobs like working in movie theaters where I was told I was "overqualified." I have been as frugal as I possibly can be, buying basically only what I need as far as food/gas/bills etc... (with the exception of music festival tickets that I bought in May). I'm currently going through the interview process at several different companies and I feel like something should break my way any week now. That said, I can't count my chickens before they hatch and I could use some help. I'm trying to raise just $2750. That would get me through November and December and by that time if I don't have a job, I will simply move into the mountains and live in a cave and subsist off the wild game I hunt and berries I gather.
In all seriousness, I'm very humbled and embarrassed to come to people with my hat in my hand like this, but it's my reality and I'm trying to make the best of it. Any and all help is appreciated and once I am gainfully employed again, I will be paying whatever I receive forward 10x.
humbly and gratefully,
