On December 28, 2022, Satomi completely fractured her left tibial plateau (knee) while on an outing with the Los Angeles Youth Winter Workshop. She was immediately taken to the ER, where it was discovered that the fracture would need two surgeries.

Both surgeries were successfully completed: an external fixation surgery to keep the bones in place on 12/29/22 and an internal fixation surgery to insert plates and screws into the leg on 1/5/23. Because the two surgeries landed in two different years, she has to pay the insurance’s max out-of-pocket for both 2022 and 2023.

Satomi’s medical bills amount to the max out-of-pocket balance for the two years. Any amount of donation would help lessen the financial burden for Satomi, who is also preparing to attend the Blessing in Korea this May.
