We found Sasha and Skye a beautiful foster home. Now we need help getting them the veterinary care they urgently need. ❤️
Sasha and Skye are a beautiful bonded pair of 9-year-old Labrador siblings whose lives changed suddenly on April 24th when their 73-year-old owner was involved in a serious car accident.
Their owner is facing a difficult recovery, and with no family or friends able to take them, she asked me to help find them a loving foster home.
This past week completely took over my life, but the urgency around these pups to avoid them being surrendered became my priority.
The community came together in an incredible way through shares, messages, and connections, and I was able to find these beautiful dogs an amazing foster home in less than two days.
The foster family who stepped forward the other day is extraordinary. With years of experience with dogs and rescues, a large fenced-in property, wonderful references, and huge hearts, they agreed to take the dogs for however long it takes while their owner recovers, whether that’s a few months or much longer.
I honestly cried the other night with relief when they said yes.
Unfortunately, the condition of the dogs is such that they need significant veterinary care as they transition into their foster home. They were covered in fleas and ticks, are not spayed or neutered, have no current vaccination records we can find, and need exams, bloodwork, testing, and all the veterinary care they haven’t received in some time.
I know many of us animal lovers are feeling emotional and concerned seeing the condition these pups were in, but right now my hope is that we can keep the focus on moving forward and helping them get the care, safety, and fresh start they now have the opportunity to receive.
An accident happened, a foster home was found, and now I’m simply trying to get these dogs the veterinary care they need so they can safely move forward into this next chapter.
I’m currently trying to raise $2,700 to help cover:
• Veterinary exams
• Bloodwork and testing
• Vaccinations
• Spay/neuter surgeries
• Parasite treatment and related care
I’m in the middle of moving and rebuilding my own business while also caring for my new rescue dog that I recently adopted, so financially, I simply can’t do this alone. But I also couldn’t walk away from these dogs knowing the alternative was going to be surrender.
Any size donation will help. (And sharing helps too - which is how they got the foster home!)
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, donated, shared the post, and taken a moment to care about these dogs. You’re helping make something beautiful happen. ❤️
