tldr: The state agencies are on a funding freeze, and I need help coming up with a deposit for an apartment. Even $20 is a help!

My name is Sasha. I was a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) for 15 years, and I was a damn good one. In 2023, I hurt my back. L&I refused my case. I began applying for disability through Social Security, as my appointments proved that I would never be able to have gainful employment again. This physical disability pairs with my mental illnesses that I have struggled with for over 10 years.

I have been fighting like hell for the past two years, finding any agency that could help assist me. I lost the ability to pay for housing. I have been on housing assistance waitlists this entire time.

Great news! My number came up for Section 8 through Housing Authority. However, there is a catch. They will assist with rent significantly, but they do not allocate funding for move-in costs.

This means that I am in need of help to pay a deposit in order to get my foot in the door to receive these benefits from Section 8 Housing Authority.

I have a lease drawn for an apartment starting August 1st. But even if I cannot come up with the funds by then, I will still need it for the next apartment that accepts my application and passes inspection by Housing Authority. I have this voucher opportunity until September 12.

I have been fighting for my own roof for so long. I'm a victim of domestic violence, from which I fled just months before this damage to my back occurred. I am an artist. I had an amazing emotional support pup, my Gruffalo. I had to put him down last month, after 10 years together. I miss him. He was my reason to keep fighting, and my best friend.
