Help Sasha and Amelia get back on their feet

Draper UT Stabbing Article

On November 15th 2020 me and Amelia woke up in a blood stained bed with Amelia's ex, Ana, on top of us, swinging a serrated bread knife, attempting to kill both me and Amelia. I managed to chase Ana out of the bedroom and lock her out, and call 911 whilst bleeding and covered in blood. During the 911 call Ana found a blowtorch in another room and attempted to light the house on fire with us inside.

After emergency services showed up we were taken to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, and Ana was taken to jail to be locked away. We had numerous lacerations on our bodies that had to be stitched up, and I suffered tendon and nerve damage on my right hand, and Amelia suffered tendon and nerve damage on both hands. We both underwent reconstructive surgery, although months of physical therapy is required post-surgery to regain strength and function in damaged hands.

A couple days after hospital discharge, we were met with a 3-day Notice to Vacate on our front door. They wanted us out, even worse we were given a bill for ~$21,000, they wanted us to pay the rest of the lease upfront. Due to the such short notice, we lost a lot of belongings, Amelia's mom packed our essentials into our cars, parked them on a lot, and went back to Tennessee to Amelia's mom's house.

We stayed for about two weeks, I healed up enough to the point of being able to drive again, and then we decided that we needed to get back to work if we didn't want to get stuck in rural Tennessee, so we travelled back to Utah, grabbed my car, and headed to Las Vegas where my parents live and stayed with them. We planned to get an apartment in the Henderson area, but little did we know we'd have a hard time finding jobs. Las Vegas's economy was wrecked from COVID-19, retail and fast food jobs were full, and our disabled hands received too much attention during any job interviews we did received, so we never managed to find employment, and left for Minneapolis, where the job market was more in need.

I got a job at McDonald's taking orders, and we got approved for a cheap apartment, however I'm not receiving enough hours to make rent and Amelia's savings is dwindling. My disabled right hand makes it difficult to do anything else on the job, so I'm usually the first to go if they need to send people home to keep labor down. I'm currently looking at other jobs, especially retail tech positions, since I have a strong background in tech, but not quite a degree, however I've received no calls back.

We're just trying to not end up homeless, any help is very much appreciated. We want to rebuild and be the best that we can be.
