Help Sarunya Fight a Grade 4 Brain Tumor

Hi, my name is Theo. We are reaching out to share the story of Sarunya, a compassionate and kind-hearted friend who is facing a life-threatening medical challenge.

Sarunya has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor called a diffuse midline glioma with an H3K27 alteration (refers to a specific genetic change in the tumor cells. This alteration is known to make the tumor more aggressive), classified as a Grade 4 (the highest grade, indicating a very aggressive and fast-growing) tumor by the World Health Organization (WHO).

In simple terms, this means she has a fast-growing tumor located in the central area of her brain, specifically on the right side of the brainstem in regions known as the pons and medulla. These areas are crucial because they control essential functions like breathing, heart rate, and muscle movements. The tumor measures about 44 millimeters (approximately 1.7 inches) from top to bottom, as seen on an MRI scan.

Current Challenges:

Physical Symptoms: Sarunya is experiencing weakness and reduced sensation on the right side of her body, including her face and trunk. She is also having difficulty speaking, swallowing and breathing, which greatly affects her daily life.

Limited Treatment Options: Due to the tumor's location and aggressive nature, treatment options are complex and require specialized medical care.

Financial Strain: Sarunya is unable to work, and her partner has taken leave from her job to provide full-time care. This has resulted in a significant loss of income and mounting medical expenses.

Sarunya is currently living in Tasmania, Australia, on a temporary visa. This status makes it challenging for her to access local support services and government assistance, adding another layer of difficulty to her already overwhelming circumstances.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, Sarunya remains resilient and hopeful. She has always been someone who brings joy and kindness to those around her. Now, she needs help to navigate this difficult journey.

ตอนนี้น้องกำลังต่อสู้กับโรคอย่างสุดความสามารถ โดยหวังว่าการรักษาที่กำลังได้รับจะทำให้อาการของน้องดีขึ้นและสามารถกลับมาแข็งแรงใช้ชีวิตตามปกติได้ในเร็ววัน
