Please join Let’s Get Free in supporting Sarita Miller in getting her paralegal certificate! From behind prison walls, Sarita has written truth and lifted up other stories are too often silenced through the beloved magazine, Daughters . Now, Sarita is reaching for a new goal: she aims for her certified paralegal program through Adams State University's correspondence course.
Sarita writes:
“Why do I want to become a paralegal? It's heartbreaking to witness young women coming into the prison who mirror my old self. I know firsthand the weight and pain they carry. Without ever having to hear their stories. It's in their eyes. Most want help yet, they are forced to depend on an evil system that takes advantage of their vulnerability. The forgotten, the marginalized and abused suffer in silence.
I often ask myself, “How can I help?” We need people like US to study the system. Who have been in the trenches and are not afraid to be heard and fight back with the very same rules and policies that keep us stagnated from generation to generation. It has to start somewhere. It takes a system to fight a system!”
We are raising $2,100 to cover:
• Tuition and enrollment fees associated with the paralegal certification program
• Required textbooks, study materials, and supplies
• Correspondence and administrative costs to support her coursework from inside
Thank you for believing in Sarita and new possibilities.
