Even In Our Difficulty, We See Someone Whom We Feel Compelled To Help

The Love of a Mother

Sarita has been fighting for the life of her daughter for the last 3 ½ years. Her heartrending journey began in February 2021, when her 20-year-old daughter, Sarena, suddenly fell sick and was taken to the doctor. She was sent to the hospital immediately and admitted into the ICU. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with stage four leukemia and chemo started urgently. Being in the peak of Covid-19 Sarita had to tearfully plead for approval to remain at her daughter's bedside.

In August of 2021, Sarena received a bone marrow transplant, but sadly, in 2022, the disease returned, and Sarena again started chemo. Through hospital stays and countless blood work visits, Sarita has always been at her daughter's side. In April of 2024, Sarena received a second bone marrow transplant. One month later, she began experiencing severe pain to urinate. After two weeks of excruciating pain, she was finally diagnosed with blood clots in her bladder and hospitalized for the removal of the blood clots. Tragically, Sarena is still in the hospital today, and the journey of the last four months has been tedious and heartbreaking. One thing led to another. Medical issues with her kidneys, lungs, heart, brain, internal bleeding, ventilator, tracheostomy, being told, “there is nothing else that can be done,” “she is maxed out on all medication,” and “just moving her could kill her.” She even coded, and her heart stopped beating. But through steadfast prayers, Sarena is still with us, though she is not fully alert. Through this emotional turbulence, Sarita has held on dearly to her faith, speaking life over her daughter, believing unwaveringly that her daughter shall live and not die, and giving all the glory to the Living God.

Sarita has been a single parent to her two children, Sarena and Marlon. She has always been hardworking and raised her two children with love and discipline. [Sarena was in her second year in college pursuing a nursing degree at the time of her diagnosis.] With both children still at home, Sarita remains the primary household provider. It has been four months since Sarita has been at her daughter’s bedside, and this hospital room has become Sarita’s place of residence. Although her job may be secure due to FMLA, Sarita has been unable to keep up with her rent, car payment, insurance, utilities, and everyday expenses. She is in danger of losing her home and car. Yet Sarita has not turned to anyone for help. However, one does not have to ask for help to recognize one needs help. Hence, the reason for this GoFundMe. Should you find it in your heart to help a mother in a time of pain and suffering, mental, emotional, physical, and financial distress? Your prayers, and financial donation to this GoFundMe would be a comforting show of love towards Sarita.

Thank you for your donation. May your seed of love return to you bountifully. God bless you.
